The Dark Alliance series was released for consoles and was critically and commercially successful. The Bhaalspawn Saga was critically acclaimed for using pausable realtime gameplay, which is credited with revitalizing the computer role-playing game (CRPG) genre.

The story spans over three acts that each took me around 40 hours to complete, playing like an obsessive completionist and finishing as many side objectives as I could. Each has a very distinct vibe and look, aided by an evocative and lively soundtrack. Act 1 is mostly idyllic wilderness, Act 2 is the spooky part, and Act 3 treats us to dense, urban adventuring.

Depending upon the class and race of your character, your innate magical strengths and weaknesses will dictate which spells you are able to wield so you want to pick the best. 

If Divinity isn’t next, perhaps a brand new game set in a completely different universe? Larian has created fantasy RPGs for some time now. Could it branch out into science fiction? Or a modern day setting? Or maybe even try a new genre?

Your party members will have opinions about all sort of decisions that you make as the player character, including which factions you choose to support and who o aprendiz you choose to kill.

If an abyss isn’t handy, you also have the chance to inflict the “prone” status on the enemy, which means they’ll take an extra beat to get back up again. Most of the time, though, I shove enemies and it doesn’t really do anything, other than amuse me. (Still worth it.)

There’s not a lot to go on here, of course. And, indeed, it may not go anywhere. But given Vincke mentions Act 1, we can assume what’s next will probably be an RPG in the Larian style, which are games broken up into three distinct acts.

And you can even bring up to three friends along with their own custom characters in co-op, both em linha and on the couch. I was impressed with how smooth and seamless this experience was, as joining or leaving a session regardless of where in the campaign your friends are is very easy, and I never ran into any significant connection issues or other on-line hiccups – though I’ve definitely seen reports that other people have.
